Custom red Christmas gift box

A hand-folded Christmas carry box made from 600gsm white card. The shape is a paper gift bag: the top narrows into a handle panel with a black ribbon bow threaded through it, the body is a single folded carton with a flat base. There is no magnet and no glue — the ribbon handle and the folded top panel are the whole closure.

It ships flat and assembles by hand, so a hamper does not need a separate outer bag. That is the point of this format: one item to buy, store and pack instead of two.

Why the board is laminated, not single-ply

The thickest white cardstock available on the market is 400g; there is no 600g white cardstock. — We bond two 300gsm sheets instead, which creases sharply and still holds its shape once loaded.

The difference shows up in two places. An empty box stands without sagging at the gusset, and it does not bow when a customer picks it up by the ribbon. A lightweight gift bag that collapses the moment it leaves the counter is the failure mode this construction avoids.

Which size you need

Small, 230 x 115 x 190 mm. Six to eight individually wrapped cookies, a 200g tin of butter cookies, or a candle and a soap bar side by side.

Medium, 280 x 120 x 225 mm. A 400g cookie tin plus a jar, two rows of nougat on a tray, or a mug with sachets.

Both sizes are already tooled, so there is no tooling charge and no wait for a new die. If neither fits, we cut a die to your size — one-off tooling cost, and roughly a week added before sampling starts.

Printing and foil artwork

The packaging box features a monochromatic design, with the words “Merry Christmas” and a tree motif rendered in gold foil. It is precisely this gold-foiling technique that sets it apart from standard paper boxes, as it creates a light-reflecting effect that cannot be achieved through conventional gold-colored printing.

Send vector files for foil artwork, with a minimum line weight around 0.2 mm. Anything thinner tends to break up on the block.

Flat packing and what it saves

The box folds down to a few millimetres and you assemble it at pack-out.

Shared-container freight is priced on volume, and that is where flat packing pays. Flat cartons take a fraction of the space of assembled ones, and you pay for the space you use rather than a whole container. At 1,000 pieces you travel on a shared container, and so does a 3,000-piece order — it takes a genuinely large run to fill a 20-footer. Flat packing does not change which service you use. It changes what that service costs.

Lead times to Singapore and Malaysia

Sampling is 3-5 days, blank or printed with your own artwork. Production is 10-15 days, running longer through the October-November peak.

Sea freight is 16-30 days door to door on a shared container, which is how almost every order this size travels. A full container is 12-22 days but needs a large order to fill. Air is 3-5 days if you have left it late.

From artwork sign-off to stock in your storeroom, plan on five to nine weeks — that is the realistic range for a shared-container order into Singapore or Malaysia.
