Most electronics brands come to us with the same complaint: the box looked fine in the product shoot and fell apart somewhere between the packing table and the customer’s door. Folding boxes for electronics have to do three things at once — hold a device that is heavier than it looks, survive a courier bag, and still look like a brand worth paying for.
Here is how we build them.
What we build these boxes for
TWS earbuds and charging cases, wall chargers, power banks, USB-C cables and adapters, smart watches and bands, and small gift sets that pair a device with an accessory. If your product goes in a retail bag or a mailer, it is probably a folding box job rather than a rigid box job.
Board and structure
Two setups cover most of the electronics work we run.
Under about 400 g, we use 300–350 gsm SBS or CCNB folding board. It prints beautifully, folds crisp and keeps the unit cost down. For power banks, multi-piece kits and anything with a screen, we move up to E-flute corrugated — it takes a drop far better and still ships flat. If your product needs the sharp corners of a rigid setup, we would usually pair a folding carton with a rigid tray instead. You can see how we handle heavier transit here: custom corrugated shipping and mailer boxes.
Inserts that stop the rattle
The device moving inside the box is what causes most customer complaints and most courier damage claims. Three options, in order of cost:
- Folded paperboard tray — cheapest, fully recyclable, good for cables and light accessories
- Die-cut EVA foam — holds a specific device shape, cavity tolerance around ±1 mm, anti-static grades available for boards
- Moulded pulp — plastic-free, works well for gift sets and brands pushing sustainability claims
We cut the insert from your device’s actual dimensions, not from the marketing spec sheet. Send a physical sample and we will fit it properly.
Printing and retail details
Full-colour offset or digital printing on the outer face, matte or gloss lamination, spot UV on the logo, hot foil in gold, silver or rose gold, and embossing on uncoated stock. We also print the boring but important parts — barcode panel, model number, recycling marks, hang tab and a tamper seal on the opening flap.
Drop testing to ISTA-1A is available on request if you are shipping directly to retail.
MOQ, sampling and lead time
MOQ is 1,000 pcs per size. Dieline in 48 hours. Pre-production sample in 7–10 days after artwork approval, production in 12–15 days. Sea freight to Singapore runs 7–12 days.
Because the box ships flat, freight is where electronics brands save the most: 5,000 units of a folding carton typically fit on a few pallets, against roughly five times the volume for the same quantity of assembled rigid boxes.
Send us your device dimensions
Send length, width and depth of the device, plus how many pieces go in one box, and we will come back with a dieline and a quote. Start from our folding box manufacturing page, or see rigid boxes with inserts and trays if your product needs a sturdier setup. For logo and finish options, full-colour custom printed boxes covers foiling, spot UV and lamination.
